paddling is fun and Energising, there is nothing better than the feeling of propelling your craft through the water, looking at the horizon and taking in the surrounds…weather it be from a river or from the Ocean, the land looks better when viewed from the water and the energy from the water is both soothing and energising for the soul.
We have got another Season of paddling for you with some new races, modifications to schedules and association with the NQ Games. NQ GAMES PADDLE WEEKEND will incorporate a flatwater paddle April 18th along the full length of the Ross River, followed by Saunders Beach paddle the day after for an approx. 50km combined paddle distance after 2 days.(people can also just do one of the events if they really want to target one)
We have also bundled the dates of Cape to Cape and Magnetic Loop to make a week of paddling which will give us scope to add some paddle clinics for a real festival of the paddle vibe and a good excuse to spend some time paddling around Townsville, Magnetic Island and the surrounding Downwind hotspots.
Each of the following courses has a Long and Short course option:
NQOPS Race 1- River Rush– 22nd February starts in River as the tide rushes out and then ocean turns into the ocean with a hope to ride some bumps back to
NQ GAMES WEEKEND –NEW!!! Ross River Paddle Marathon-18th April 26km River paddle with portages entire Ross River one way (NQ Games 50 km weekend)
NQOPS Race 2 – Saunders Beach 19th April NQ Games 50km weekend
NQOPS Race 3- Etty Bay – 4th July Join our favourite Cassowary at the Finish line at Etty Bay
NQ PADDLE WEEK -NEW!!! NQOPS Race 4– Sealink Cape 2 Cape –11th-14th September (4-day window race), with 2km dash for cash on the strand on the alternate day
NQOPS Race 5 – Magnetic Loop – 19th September 37km in 5 stages ( each stage between 10.9km and 3.5km can be tag team or solo)
NQOPS Race 6 – Mystery Paddle & Series Presentations –25th October (multi scenarios TSV region, based on best conditions/ logistics)
